CRB Code of Practice – Retention

As a company accessing the CRB service, you have an obligation to comply with the CRB code of practice.

 

One element of the CRB Code of Practice is Retention.The CRB Code of Practice

Once a recruitment (or other relevant) decision has been made about an employee following receipt of a CRB certificate, you should not keep Disclosure information for any longer than is absolutely necessary.

This is generally for a period of up to six months, to allow for the consideration and resolution of any disputes or complaints. If, in very exceptional circumstances, it is considered to keep Disclosure information for longer than six months, you should consult the CRB about this giving full consideration to the Data Protection and Human Rights individual subject before doing so.
