It has been announced by the CRB, (14th March 2011), that necessary changes have to be made to the Enhanced CRB Application due to the Vetting and Barring Scheme.
Enhanced CRB checks will be increased by £8.00 per application from the 6th April 2011.
This increase is directly linked to the Government’s recent decision to scale back the Vetting and Barring Scheme to more common sense levels, which has resulted in the cancellation of the requirement to register with the VBS. This fee increase will directly fund the administration costs of the retained elements of the scheme, and is significantly lower than the intended registration fee of £64.

The CRB recognise that this is short notice for all their customers to adapt to this increase but since the Vetting and Barring and Criminal Records Reviews were only completed in the middle of February 2011, April 1st is the quickest that the fee increase could be introduced, taking into account the necessary Parliamentary processes.
