ContactPoint

You may be aware that ContactPoint, a government database that held information on all children under 18 in England, was switched off in August 2010.

ContactPoint aimed to enhance child protection by improving the way information about children was shared between services. The introduction of the ContactPoint database enabled relevant users and those who may have been permitted access to the database to undergo Enhanced CRB checks.

As the database is no longer in operation, the CRB no longer expects to receive any applications submitted for ContactPoint. Looking ahead, the Government is considering the feasibility of a new signposting service for professionals to help them to support and protect our most vulnerable children. Details of what any alternative system may look like will be provided in due course.
