CRB Checks for Locksmiths

CRB Checks for Master Locksmith Members

The Master Locksmith Association (MLA) is entitled to carry out Standard CRB checks on its members & potential locksmiths applying for MLA training or licences. CRB Checks for locksmiths are available for those who are not registered with the MLA at a Basic Disclosure level.

Basic Disclosure Criminal Record Check

The Basic check is available to both individual locksmiths (self employed) and Locksmith companies where their employees are not members of the MLA. It searches for criminal convictions considered unspent and takes roughly 2 weeks to process.

Standard CRB Disclosure

The Standard Disclosure is only available to Locksmiths that are members of the MLA. It is a much more detailed check than the Basic, searching for all cautions, warnings, reprimands & convictions. It can only be requested by companies on behalf of their employees and takes approximately 2 weeks to process.

Enhanced CRB Disclosure

Locksmiths are not eligible for the Enhanced CRB disclosure as these checks are designed specifically for people working with children or vulnerable adults. However, if a locksmith was regularly coming into contact with children (i.e. contract on a school) they may be eligible to obtain the Enhanced Disclosure.
