CRB Checks for Opticians
Opticians are eligible for all three levels of Criminal Record Check; Basic disclosures, Standard CRB Checks and Enhanced CRB Checks.
The recommended level of CRB check for Opticians (including Ophthalmic Opticians) is the Enhanced CRB Disclosure due to the contact they will have with children & vulnerable adults. Although the Enhanced CRB Check is recommended, is ultimately at the discretion of the company for whom the Optician is employed by.
Standard and Enhanced CRB Checks
A company applying for CRB Checks for opticians within their organisation are eligible to obtain Standard CRB Checks and Enhanced CRB Checks. If a company is requesting a CRB check on behalf on their employer, it is usually due to their desire to obtain an Enhanced level check.
The Standard and Enhanced CRB Disclosures includes details of all cautions, warnings, reprimands & convictions, with the Enhanced Checks also searching the ‘Barred Lists’ for working with children & vulnerable adults. The Enhanced Check additionally searches the applicant’s local police records, for any relevant non-convictional information.
