Who is the Enhanced CRB Check for?
This would be mainly for individuals who provide Teaching, Training, Supervision, Advice, Treatment and Transport for either children or vulnerable adults. However, they can also include any profession which may involve potential contact with children or vulnerable adults e.g. Contractors on a School site working every week with contact with children would qualify for an Enhanced CRB Check.
Enhanced CRB Certificates can only be requested by organisations on behalf of their staff. Individuals cannot apply for Enhanced CRB Checks on themselves. One copy of the certificate will go directly to the applicants’ home address, and another copy will be issued to a designated person within the company that requested the check.
What Does an Enhanced Disclosure Show?
It will show details of all Cautions, Warnings, Reprimands and Convictions held on an individual’s criminal record. It will also search whether the applicant is on the children / vulnerable adults Barred Lists. The Barred Lists are a list of the names of individuals that are barred by law from working with children or vulnerable adults. It is an offence for any individuals on the Barred Lists to work / seek employment with children or vulnerable adults. The Enhanced CRB Check also has a section for ‘Other Relevant Police Information’ where the applicant’s local police force can add any further notes should they deem it relevant.
