Standard CRB Checks are available for specific industries.
A Standard CRB Disclosure contains all convictions held on the police National Computer including current and “spent” convictions as well as details of any cautions, reprimands or final warnings.
Standard CRB Checks are only available for companies or organisations to apply for on behalf of their staff. Individuals can apply for a Basic Disclosure Online here.

A Standard Criminal Record Check is required for entry into the following professions:

- Financial Services and Accountancy
- Child care
- Education
- Solicitors
- Legal
- Prison professions
- Vets
- Dental Practices
- Contractors on regulated sites (e.g. Schools)
- Organisations who provide a specific service for children or vulnerable adults
- Pharmaceutical work

Volunteer Standard CRB Checks
Standard CRB checks are also available for volunteers at just £18.00 per person. This reduced rate for a standard CRB Check would only be available if the applicant qualified as a volunteer.
The definition of a volunteer with regards to CRB Checks is:
“Any person engaged in an activity which involves spending time, unpaid (except for travel and other approved out-of-pocket expenses) doing something which aims to benefit some third party and not themselves or a close relative.”
In order for an applicant to qualify as a volunteer for a CRB Check they must not:
- Receive any payment (except for travel and other approved out-of-pocket expenses).
- Be on a placement.
- Be on a course that requires them to do this job role
- Be in a trainee position that will lead to a full time role/qualification
