Criminal Record Checks for Nannies

Nannies cannot apply for their own Criminal Record Checks.

Nannies are not entitled to apply for a Criminal Record Check but their agency can. This must be done through a registered umbrella body of the Criminal Records Bureau such as Personnel Checks. Individual employers can not apply direct to the Criminal Records Bureau and at present, parents are not able to obtain a crb check for a nanny.

Parents have no legal requirement to obtain a disclosure certificate. The Enhanced level of CRB check, is the highest level of police check and is undertaken for people working with children such as Nannies who are employed through an agency. It highlights people unsuitable for working with children by checking to see if they have a criminal record.
