Police Checks - Criminal Records Bureau Checks
If you wish to work on any project that involves working with children or vulnerable adults you will need to apply for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure, also known as a Police Check.
This can be arranged through a registered umbrella body such as Personnel Checks.
Applicants will need to complete a simple application form, which then is sent to the CRB. Once received at the CRB, your application goes through the following stages to be processed:
Stage 1 - Application Form received and validated
Stage 2 - Police National computer searched - (see below)
Stage 3 - ISA Children, ISA Adults and List 99 searched, where applicable
Stage 4 - Records held by the Police search
Stage 5 - Disclosure Printed
Stage 2 Police Check
Your details at stage 2 are checked against teh Police Natonal Computer System.
If you have a criminal record it will be stated on your CRB Disclosure Certificate, which normally takes about 6 weeks to arrive. Two copies of the certificate are sent out, one copy to you at your home address and one copy to the organisation who the applicant is conducting the work on behalf of.
Having a criminal record does not automatically prevent individuals from working with an organisation; the nature of any recorded convictions is considered confidentially in terms of whether such offences are relevant to the job opportunity being applied for.
To apply for a CRB Disclosure you will need to supply relevant documentation
