All Change - Chief Exec of The DBS Will Be Sorely Missed!

Adriènne has held the role of Chief Executive for over 3 years and is now ready to commence a new challenge as Chief Executive of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

The DBS have welcomed a lot of important and beneficial changes since Adriènne started
such as the merging of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). Adrienne led this development and ensured the delivery of new products was clearly planned and provided a thorough strategy for future direction.

Adriènne’s new role at ONR will involve working closely with the board to maintain regulation of the nuclear industry as it grows and has greater impact in the UK energy market.

DBS Chairman, Bill Griffiths, commented on the impact Adriènne has had at the DBS:

“Adriènne’s vision, determination and drive have seen us take great strides at DBS. But she never allows anyone to lose focus on our day-to-day purpose to protect the public and keep vulnerable people safe.

“I am personally delighted for Adriènne and congratulate her on this promotion which will provide her with equal challenge and opportunity in this more senior role at ONR. I hope we will be able to recruit someone with equal drive and ambition.

Adriènne also spoke about her new venture:

“It has been my absolute privilege to work with DBS staff for over 3 years, and to lead a change programme that has seen it increase its safeguarding reach to protect even more vulnerable adults and children.

“While it has not been an easy decision to leave DBS, I feel the time is right to grasp this new opportunity which has been offered to me.

“Working with the ONR means I will still be in the safeguarding business which is truly rewarding and the main driver for me to continue to work in public service.”

Personnel Checks have had the pleasure of meeting Adriènne on a number of occasions and are thrilled she will take on this new exciting role. Our Managing Director, Michelle Mellor spoke about working with Adriènne:

“I am absolutely delighted and of course congratulate Adriènne on her news. How very lucky the Office of Nuclear Regulation are, to have appointed such a talented and genuine leader.

I am sure the Home Office and the DBS Teams in Liverpool and Darlington are going to really miss her. From a registered body perspective, I can honestly say she has made a significant impact and a huge difference to how DBS operate and are perceived, she is highly respected by her team and wonderful to work with, believing passionately in the true value and importance of the vital public safeguarding work we all do and how crucial it is to keep society safe. Adrienne has been a great ambassador for the office and a true leader. I do hope her successor shall continue in the same vein, she will certainly be a hard act to follow!

I Wish her every success and look forward to hearing about her continuing successful career”.
