Michelle Mellor Elected to Recruitment and Employment Confederation Council
The Cummins Mellor Group Managing Director and Lead Signatory for Personnel Checks, Michelle Mellor has been elected by fellow corporate members to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Council.
Established in 1930, the REC is the professional body for UK recruitment businesses, striving to improve the standards and reputation of the recruitment industry.
With over 27 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, Michelle was one of four non-executive Directors from across the UK elected on Thursday 15th June at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting.
Michelle’s role on the Council will involve representing more than 3600 corporate REC members, driving towards a more professional and compliant recruitment industry. She will assist in signing off the REC’s agenda, from compliance and regulatory commitments, through to qualifications and policy goals.
Commenting on her achievement, Michelle Mellor said; “I’m extremely passionate about challenging the status quo of the industry by putting the candidate at the centre of the process, inspiring change and providing a great customer experience.
During my 27 years in the recruitment industry, I have built relationships with many recruitment business leaders and understand the issues they face on a daily basis. I stood for the REC Council as I’m keen to represent the views of these professional and respectable recruiters in order to continually raise the standards and help shape the future of the industry for the better.”
Commenting on the elections, REC chief executive Kevin Green said: “Recruiters transform lives on a daily basis and as the professional body for the industry our role is to demonstrate at every opportunity the value our members deliver to individuals, businesses and the wider economy. Our council plays a vital role in helping to shape our strategic direction to achieve that goal, and it’s extremely positive to be adding such talent, experience and passion to our team.
“They join at an exciting time for the sector. It’s becoming harder than ever for businesses to find and hire the people they need, and the recruitment industry will increasingly be called upon to provide the solutions to the challenges facing UK plc. Our new council will play a pivotal role in helping us provide more value for members, and to build the best recruitment industry in the world.”
