Over the past 2 years, Personnel Checks has been working hard to develop Trust2Ride – a classroom-based, safeguarding awareness course for Taxi Drivers in the UK. Today, we are proud to announce that the nationally recognised course has been awarded full accreditation status from the CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
What is Trust2Ride?
As the eyes and ears of our towns and cities, Taxi Drivers play a critical role when it comes to safeguarding. Trust2Ride is a safeguarding awareness training course whose aim is to engage, empower & educate Taxi and Private Hire Drivers to not only identify but to have the confidence to report their Safeguarding concerns to the most appropriate body.
Throughout the 2 hour session, drivers learn about the following core safeguarding topics:
- Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
- Human Trafficking
- Indicators of concern
- Types of abuse
- General passenger safety
- Best safeguarding practice
The session will educate drivers and take them to a better understanding of safeguarding in general and the signs to spot when in contact with vulnerable people. The drivers are encouraged to engage with the trainer and each other throughout the session and by the end, drivers will feel empowered to identify and report safeguarding concerns.
We put drivers on a pedestal and show them the respect they deserve which in turn encourages them to want to do better within their communities.
What does the accreditation mean?
The CPD accreditation means the content, structure and delivery of Trust2Ride has been assessed by an external CPD Certification Service and approved as an official Certified Professional Development training course.
The CPD Certification Service was established in 1996 as the leading independent CPD accreditation institution operating across industry sectors to complement the Continuing Professional Development policies of professional institutes and academic bodies. The CPD Certification Service provides support, advice and recognised independent CPD accreditation compatible with global CPD principles.
The CPD have a large network of members who all provide high-quality training such as the NSPCC, British Heart Foundation and Barnardo’s to name a few. To see the full member directory, please click here.
