Our Mission - Building Towards Safer Recruitment

We are currently going through the biggest overhaul of our business in two decades. But the changes underway are not just for the sake of it but to help build towards the vision we’ve set for ourselves.   

Personnel Checks have always had a mission statement. We feel it is crucial to ensure that everyone is invested in a common goal that profits them, our business and our customers. Our mission has and always will be a guiding force for both our leadership and operations teams.   

Here’s why:  

It helps us measure our decisions for the future. When deciding on whether to embark on a new project, spend some money or define a new marketing strategy, we can always stop and ask ourselves: "does this get us any closer to our mission? If not, then should we be doing it at all?   

It helps keep everybody together. We’ve always been a close-knit team but as we grow, it becomes more difficult to keep everyone, motivated, together and focused on the same goal. Our mission is the #1 thing we can all share and, when we hit milestones, celebrate accordingly!  

This is particularly true as we adopt more flexible working practices. With more remote working, more divisions and more moving parts to our business it’s important everyone is united.  

It drives us to be ambitious. Our mission should be bold, brave and always inspiring us to go the extra mile. No matter who they are, we want out teams look at our mission and feel motivated to say "Yes! I really believe in that!"   

  

Defining our mission  

It’s one thing saying our mission statement is a great unifier within the business, but how can we be sure that the whole team is onboard?  

Our mission statement isn’t something that’s determined in a private leadership meeting but rather a democratic process. For us to be confident that we’re all on the same page we feel it’s important to ensure that every voice in the business is heard.   

Over the course of a week in February, the entire Personnel Checks team involved themselves in a series of sessions to define where we’re going and what we believe. Each member of the team had a chance to share the things they feel are most important about our business and what we should stand for.   

Interestingly, even before a statement was formalised, it became quite apparent that we were already working towards similar ideals. Themes of safety, security and 5-star customer service were all identified as core values.   

We collated all this feedback from our team and put it together to discover our teams' motivations for our future mission.  

  

Our Mission Statement    

At Personnel Checks we are building a Background Screening company to make the working world safer for everyone.  

This is the big, brave & bold set of words that we feel describe us, give us energy, and define the passion that we have for the service we provide. It may be simple but if we dissect it in more detail, our values shine through.  

Building is a key idea for us. Since our inception, we have been constantly building our products and service and we’ll always be industry innovators. Using the present continuous tense ‘we are building’ is a deliberate decision that highlights our continued dedication to our clients. We will never rest on our laurels but always strive to build a portfolio that benefits all we work with.   

Making the working world safer is one of the universal motivators for the Personnel Checks team. Background screening services allow organisations to make safe and effective recruitment decision that contribute towards a safer society for all. It’s a bold statement but one we all truly believe.  

One thing our mission statement doesn’t define is how we’re actually going to achieve it. It’s a good job we decided to spend some time working this out as well!

Faster, is all about efficiencies. Every deliverable we have is measured for ‘time in motion’, whether this is countersigning checks, responding to queries or even answering the phone. Smile. One of our favourite sayings in the office (back when we could go) is “It’s nice to be nice”. Stellar customer service is one of the founding tenets of Personnel Checks. Background screening gets a bad reputation for being boring which is why we like to challenge ourselves to bring a little bit of joy to all our customers.
