For a small annual fee of £13 the Update Service enables individuals to keep their DBS checks up to date and allow portability from role to role where the same level of check is required.
The Update Service saves employers time and money and also means they may never need to apply for a DBS Check on an employee again if there is no new criminal information on an applicant’s record.
Ofsted (early years) have become the first large statutory organisation to make the Update Service mandatory. For applications submitted on or after September 1st, all Ofsted registered child-minders must register with the Update Service and give their consent to enable Ofsted to be able to check the status of their DBS certificate at least every six months.
